On Monday (12), Eurofarma — a member of PróGenéricos and recognized for its regulatory expertise in Latin America — signed an agreement with Sinovac, a Chinese company renowned globally for its innovations in vaccines, mRNA technologies, and advanced biotechnology.
The main initiative resulting from the partnership is the creation of the Brazil-China Institute for Innovation in Biotechnology and Infectious & Degenerative Diseases (iBRID). Based in Brazil, the institute will be a center of excellence dedicated to research and development of highly complex therapeutic solutions for infectious diseases, cancer, and immunological and degenerative conditions. iBRID will focus on new-generation vaccines (such as mRNA and recombinant proteins), monoclonal antibodies, immunotherapies, and advanced cellular and genetic therapies.

The signing ceremony, held in China, was attended by President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva, Minister of Health Alexandre Padilha, and Minister of the Civil House Rui Costa. Representing Eurofarma was Executive Director Walker Lahmann, who is also an advisor to PróGenéricos. Walker also participated in a panel at the Brazil-China Seminar organized by ApexBrasil, entitled Investments and New Financing Opportunities.

On that occasion, three strategic agreements were signed between representatives of the Brazilian government and Chinese companies, focused on research and development, technology transfer, and strengthening domestic production. Partnerships focused on the production of Active Pharmaceutical Ingredients (APIs) were also accelerated, reinforcing the commitment to autonomy and innovation in the health sector in Brazil.
